EQ Active Brain Tracking For Concussion Testing

EQ- Active Brain Tracking for Mobile Concussion Management and Neurological Testing

We’re pleased to share that NorCal Brain Center will be integrating Highmark Interactive’s new mobile application “EQ- Active Brain Tracking” as a diagnostic tool in our practice. Using this new and innovative application, we can set a baseline for patients after a concussion and track their progress as we help them heal.

What is EQ?

The unique fusion video game, neuroscience and artificial intelligence, EQ allows users to play games to track their brain activity and heal their brain injuries.

EQ is a smartphone app that users download and work with under the supervision of their physician. EQ allows your physician to determine the extent of injury after a collision or blow to the head, and then also to make data-driven decisions about treatment and recovery.

Designed by a team of doctors, athletes and sports medicine professionals, EQ is listed with the FDA, having proven its worth in a series of clinical trials under the supervision of Highmark’s industry-leading medical advisory board.

How Does EQ Work?

The EQ app is loaded with tests in the form of games that measure concussion symptoms, anxiety, sleep issues and other common neurological issues. The app’s format, which allows for repeated testing and tracking over time, then allows physicians and medical professionals to gauge a patient’s progress and adjust treatment plans and options.

For users, the app clearly shows a health range for their results. This allows patients to feel in control of their own recovery and see meaningful improvement as they follow their treatment plans.

Once patients download and begin using the app, they can also use the tracking program to check themselves in the case of another worrisome collision or blow to the head. This feature is especially valuable for athletes who may encounter multiple collisions, and who want to be able to gauge their brain’s injury quickly and easily. The app allows patient to run a test and then offers immediate analytics to share with your physician.

How Do We Use EQ at NorCal?

At NorCal, we have years of experience in treating concussions, and helping athletes, children involved in playground accidents or other victims of accidents and injury. That doesn’t mean, however, that we are not always on the lookout for new tools and treatment options to help our patients.

This is why we have added EQ to our diagnostic and treatment toolkit. We know that it will help us serve our patients more effectively. When being evaluated for your brain injury, we will give you the access code to download EQ and then use the app to help us perform a baseline evaluation and then track your progress as you follow your treatment plan.

If you or a family member have received a blow to the head, we urge you to visit us at NorCal Brain Center to experience the integrative, comprehensive and effective concussion management treatments that we can offer you!
