Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Post-COVID-19 Recovery

Many people continue to struggle with the lingering effects of COVID-19, preventing their bodies from fully healing. COVID-19 is a respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which primarily attacks the lungs and other tissues. This damage can lead to hypoxemia, a life-threatening condition characterized by low blood oxygen levels.

Hypoxemia occurs when the lungs lose their ability to efficiently take in oxygen and distribute it throughout the body. Since our body relies on oxygen-rich blood to heal and nourish tissues, COVID-19 can leave individuals with a weakened immune system and respiratory function. At NorCal Brain Center, we are committed to providing cutting-edge treatments to help accelerate your post-COVID-19 recovery.

Studies on Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) suggest that it may play a crucial role in healing COVID-19-related lung damage and restoring overall health.

How Can Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Aid in COVID-19 Recovery?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) involves breathing in 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber, where the air pressure is 2 to 3 times higher than normal atmospheric levels. This process significantly enhances the body’s oxygen absorption, allowing the lungs to take in and distribute much more oxygen than under normal conditions.

Some key benefits of HBOT for post-COVID-19 recovery include:

Enhanced Oxygen Delivery – Increased oxygen intake helps oxygenate the blood, ensuring that vital organs and tissues receive the oxygen they need to function optimally.

Reduced Inflammation – High oxygen levels help decrease inflammatory responses, which can contribute to lingering symptoms of COVID-19, such as fatigue, brain fog, and shortness of breath.

Accelerated Tissue Healing – Oxygen-rich blood promotes the repair and regeneration of lung tissues, aiding in the recovery of COVID-19-induced lung damage.

Boosted Immune System – A well-oxygenated body is more efficient in fighting off infections, supporting long-term immune health.

Improved Circulation – HBOT stimulates the formation of new blood vessels, enhancing blood flow to damaged areas and expediting tissue repair.

Jang

Jang was born in Incheon, South Korea, and moved to the U.S. when he was one year old. He was raised in Morgan Hill, and from a young age, he knew that helping others made him happy. At 12, he began volunteering in various capacities, including preparing food, cleaning trash, assisting with after-school activities, and more. However, it wasn’t until he took his first actual science course in high school at age 14 that he developed a passion for science.

Combining his love for helping others with his interest in science, Jang attended the University of California, Davis, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior (NPB). His time there cemented his passion for healthcare. Since graduating, he has worked at various clinics, hoping to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible to positively impact people’s lives.

Initially, Jang aspired to become a Physician Assistant. After working at Norcal Brain Center for a year and witnessing its profound impact on patients, he hopes to become a clinical neurologist one day.

He enjoys working out, spending time outdoors, and exploring new restaurants with friends and family in his free time.
