What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a specialized form of biofeedback therapy that helps adjust brain waves to their optimal levels. It is highly personalized, with treatment protocols tailored to each individual’s needs. This therapy can support focus, memory, ADHD, anxiety, and more by training the brain to function more efficiently.
During a session, patients wear a wet cap, a specialized cap with gel applied to certain areas of the scalp. These placements are based on the treatment protocol to target specific brain regions. While wearing the cap, patients watch TV for a set duration. As they do, they receive visual and auditory feedback designed to guide their brain waves into the desired range.
For example, if brain activity shifts outside the target zone, the screen dims, and background sounds fade. When the brain moves back into the optimal state, the screen brightens, and sounds return. This process teaches the brain to self-regulate over time, leading to long-term improvements in mental and cognitive function.
How can Neurofeedback Help?
Because neurofeedback is fully customizable, it can address a wide range of conditions. An EEG scan helps identify brain regions that may be overactive or underactive. Using this data, doctors create a plan to balance brain waves, often leading to noticeable improvements in mood, focus, and overall brain performance.
Neurofeedback may help with:
- Anxiety
- Cognitive function
- Attention and working memory
- ADHD
- Addictions
- Anger management
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Eating disorders
- Headaches/migraines
- Learning disorders
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)
- Pain management
- Insomnia
- Focus and concentration
This non-invasive therapy offers a drug-free way to enhance brain function, making it a promising option for those seeking lasting improvements in mental clarity, performance, and well-being.
