Dizziness
Many people deal with dizziness in their everyday life, sometimes to the point where it prevents them from being able to do anything. At NorCal Brain Center, Dr. Minh and associates are trained to treat and care for those who experience these symptoms. Dizziness can encompass a whole range of sensations and feeling but it typically manifests as feeling faint, woozy, weak, unsteady, etc. More so, these feelings might be exacerbated by walking, standing, or moving your head in certain directions. There are also those whose dizziness gets’ so bad that they become extremely nauseous and are not able to move anymore.
What can be causing my dizziness?
Our systems in our body work together to maintain homeostasis, making are that everything is working as one. The vestibular system, visual system, and proprioceptive system are all ones that work to help keep you balanced and aware of your surroundings. Our eyes and visual system can help determine where the body is in space and how it is moving. Our ears and vestibular system are just as important as well. Our inner is the home of sensors and canals that help detect gravity and different motion. When these canals and sensors are not picking up on the correction motion or even picking up motion when it is not there can trigger us to feel dizzy as well. When there is an issue with our visual system, we might have trouble discerning where we are which can cause us to feel dizzy and lightheaded. Lastly our proprioceptive system located in the muscle and joints of our body also helps provide us with a sense of awareness. Muscles and receptors in our neck can sometimes be “weak” causing has to have a weak perception of where we are. Dizziness can have many possible causes such as inner ear problems, motion sickness, an underlying health issue, vertigo, poor circulation, infection, injury, and even a side effect of a medication you’re taking. No matter the cause, at NorCal Brain center we are dedicated and determined to find the cause so we can help treat you. Read ahead to see what type of treatments are available.
