Mente Tech Neurofeedback for Autism

Neurofeedback and Biofeedback

At NorCal Brain Center, we’ve seen firsthand the tremendous benefits that biofeedback, particularly neurofeedback, can offer our patients. Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback therapy that allows patients to self-regulate their brain function. By using stimulation and mental strategies, doctors can help patients retrain their brains for better functionality.

The Benefits of Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is widely accepted in both medicine and psychology and is effective in treating a broad range of conditions. The goal of neurofeedback is to identify the cause of dysfunction in the brain. Specifically, we look for which brain pathways are either dysregulated, over-activated, or under-activated.

Once we pinpoint the areas of the brain that aren’t functioning optimally, we can create a personalized therapeutic system for each patient. The system helps retrain the brain, utilizing the right equipment and providing real-time feedback to track progress. Typically, neurofeedback involves patients engaging with games or focusing on specific images as part of the training process.

Conditions Treated with Neurofeedback

At NorCal Brain Center, we use neurofeedback to help patients with conditions such as ADHD, migraines, epilepsy, and chronic pain. We’ve seen remarkable results, with many patients experiencing significant relief and making considerable progress with this therapy.

Introducing Mente Tech for Autism Spectrum Disorder

We are excited to introduce new neurofeedback technology designed specifically for neurodivergent patients, particularly those living with autism spectrum disorder. This new tool is called Mente Tech, and it provides targeted neurofeedback therapy for individuals with autism.

 What is Mente Tech?

Mente Tech is a type of neurofeedback therapy that uses closed-loop EEG training. In closed-loop training, the system continually reads the patient’s brainwaves and adjusts the training based on continuous feedback from the EEG. This dynamic process makes Mente Tech one of the most effective methods for retraining inefficient or erratic brain activity.

How Does it Work?

Mente Tech uses a comfortable headband with electrodes to read the patient’s brainwaves. The patient also wears headphones, which play specific sounds designed to help improve brainwave efficiency. The software monitors and decodes the brainwaves, using this data to adjust the sound patterns.

As the sounds play through the headphones, the system continuously monitors the brain’s response, making real-time adjustments to optimize brainwave function. This closed-loop process allows for individualized treatment tailored to each patient’s specific needs.

Why is Mente Tech Ideal for Autism Spectrum Disorder?

What sets Mente Tech apart from other neurofeedback systems is its ability to function without requiring the patient’s active attention or engagement. This feature makes it particularly suitable for patients with autism, who may struggle with following instructions or maintaining focus. The system’s passive, continuous feedback ensures that neurofeedback can still be effective even without direct participation.

At NorCal Brain Center, we are thrilled to offer Mente Tech as part of our comprehensive approach to supporting neurodivergent patients and helping them achieve greater brain function and overall well-being.
